Ok, I had to write...

I wanted to learn the intimate relationship between notes (scales) and how chords are derived from these. Your course has been a definite help, and I know I will be using it for some time to come as a reference as I evolve as a player.

Something else I wanted to learn was how to take the scales and uniquely create my own "riffs". That is very important to me, and I have already advanced in this regard as I have studied your course.

The course is also proving to be tremendously valuable in helping me reach my ultimate goal: to play anything I set my mind to, and to be able to write songs.

I had been practicing the movable patterns for the major scale -- I learned the first four movable patterns. Anyway, we were playing this song in the key of B and I was able to add some lead fills by using what I had recently learned.

The number one thing I wanted to learn on guitar was to be able to play some lead. I [?] played trumpet, I played bass guitar, I played runs. I never was comfortable with fingering all over the fretboard.

 

Of course, I need to learn my scales. I'm not saying I've got it down pat yet, but I've seen some great progress.

 

And the exercises... the fingering exercises have picked up my speed quite a bit.
