I wanted to learn the intimate relationship between notes (scales) and how chords are derived from these. Your course has been a definite help, and I know I will be using it for some time to come as a reference as I evolve as a player.

The number one thing I wanted to learn on guitar was to be able to play some lead. I [?] played trumpet, I played bass guitar, I played runs. I never was comfortable with fingering all over the fretboard.

I can see some of the patterns on the fret board that I didn't understand are now making sense.

It is a well established fact we humans experience max difficulty in the very areas we need to focus upon the most. For me music theory, intervals, progressions and so on has been a darkness that needs some serious light.

Before, in the early 70's, I was absolutely obsessed. I could practice two, three, up to eight hours a day - yes I could get it down to play it, note for note.

 

But if you don’t know the WHY or WHAT you don’t have too much to remember. You're course is explaining the things the never knew, but always wanted to learn.

When I received the guitar I was very intimidated.

I just wanted to learn how to play it in a manner that didn't sound horrible. I have far exceeded this by using the course.

This will probably sound pretty stupid to most people, but my goals as a guitarist change weekly, if not daily.

I didn't really set any goals, because it was something that I wasn't really even sure I could learn how to do.

I had used two other training courses, and I didn't make any real progress.

As far as learning to play the guitar is concerned, this course has far surpassed anything I have done before.

The timeline with me has been very short. I started out with no knowledge of the guitar or how to play it. I was
scared to death of the thing.

I took guitar lessons for 3 1/2 years back in the middle 1980's. I learned from several different books. I would bring songs to my teacher and he would listen to them and write out all the tabs.

I could play about 30 songs by the time I stopped taking the lessons. I really had a lot of fun. I could play for hours at a time just playing along with the CDs.

I like your course a lot and I'm glad I got it.

I went through the DVD's already. A lot of it was a refresher course for me. But, I did not know about the CAGED chords.

I mean, I knew those chords, but not the way you could put them in progressions.

Right now, I'm at the part of the course where I am practicing the scales and learning the key signatures. I didn't know too much about scales before now. The information about the seven modes was very helpful, too.

For the past few years I've often thought to my self, "Why didn't I keep taking lessons?" Every couple of months or so I would take out my guitar and to listen to a song I liked and try to play it.

I could get the beginning when the guitar is clear, but when all the other music starts I could not get any further.

 

What I want from your course is to listen to a song and be able to write it out like my teacher did.

 

I'm already improving with this skill.

 

I guess practicing scales helps!
