FREAK! (Video)

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I was helping my son find a video of Solfeggietto by C.P.E. Bach (one of J.S. Bach’s sons) because he’s learning it on piano. And I stumbled on this video.

This guy took the piece which is written for keyboard and plays it on the guitar. This is AMAZING! Check it out…

Cheers,

Dan Denley

P.S. I’m releasing a NEW version of my Lead Guitar Secrets course very soon. If want to learn to shred like the dude above, then you’ll definitely want to check it out. I’ll be releasing some killer videos from that course very soon. So, check your inbox often. ;-)

Pentatonic minor on two strings

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

This video from my Lead Guitar Secrets course shows you how to play the pentatonic minor scale using the top two strings only. This is useful when you don’t want to fool around with the other strings. You can just memorize this simple pattern and use two strings for your solo.

Learn More About Lead Guitar Secrets Here

I’ve gotten lots of questions, but here are a couple…

Q. Is this for beginners?

A. If you just bought you guitar and you’re still trying to get started, then this is NOT for you. This course is designed for guitarists who are already semi-proficient with chords and rhythm playing but want to learn how to solo.

Q. What will I learn?

A. Too much to list here. :-) But the a few highlights are… major, minor, pentatonic scales in all positions, 50 copy-paste solo licks, 13 easy solos in various styles, modes, matching scales and chords, bending, sliding, hammer-ons, pull-offs, building speed and finger strength, 3-string box positions, etc.

Note: I do NOT cover arpeggios or sweep picking in the videos because I’m terrible at that stuff. :)

IMPORTANT: And by the way, I’ve decided today to offer a fast-mover bonus: The 1st 25 orders will receive a lifetime membership to Triple Your Chords in 7 Days. So be sure to claim your copy early.

About today’s lesson: This video is on “Practicing Tips” and comes from DVD 2. I give you three examples of how to practice your scales using three different rhythmic patterns. I’ve provided the tab for you so you can see exactly what I’m playing.

Right-click here and choose, “Save As…” (or just click the link) to download the tab for this video lesson.

Here’s the video from DVD 2:

Note: This video requires the free Adobe flash plug-in.

Hope you enjoy this lesson. If so, please post your comments/questions below.

Hello brother & sister guitarists! Hope you’re al…

Hello brother & sister guitarists!

Hope you’re all doing well. We’re getting closer and closer to the release of my new Lead Guitar Secrets course next month. The DVD’s & CD’s are being replicated and I’m currently proofing the book. (It’s taking forever because there are tons of musical examples!)

Anyway, people are really starting to get excited. Email has been pouring in lately about the previous two videos from LGS: finger strength and modes.

Here’s just a couple of comments that we’ve received:

Hi Dan,
I studied music for 2 years in college, with one year of classical guitar. It’s fantastic to hear these theoretical concepts (like modes) really start to make sense. After watching your first video from Lead Guitar Secrets, I dusted off my guitar and I’m slowly building my fingers back up to strength. Thanks, mate!

Dan,
I’ve bought the AGS course, the Blues course and can’t wait for the Lead course. I’ve learned more about guitar since I met you than in any other period of my life. You’re the best and so is your instruction. May God bless you and your work.
Peace,
Mark

Wow. Thanks James, Brad and Mark. I sincerely appreciate your kind words and I wanted to say so publicly. It’s comments like those that get me out of bed every morning. :-)

Anyway, here’s three more videos from the new course. I hope you enjoy them. If so, please post your comments and questions below (click the “comments” link).

Or, if you’d like to leave a voicemail (like James above) please call toll-free: 1-800-609-9006, Ext. 6280. International callers dial 678-255-2174, Ext. 6280. If you’ve got a picture, please send it to Dan[at]AmazingGuitarSecret.com. Thanks!

Video #1: Horizontal fretboard movement
Horizontal movement basically means moving up and down the fretboard. You do this by understanding how scale patterns are related.

Video #2: Three-string box positions
Box positions are used extensively by blues & rock guitarists. They are simply the 3-string versions of the pentatonic minor patterns.

Video #3: Connecting scale patterns
The ability to connect scale patterns is the key to being able to achieve total freedom in your solo. In this video I demonstrate how to connect patterns 1 & 2 of pentatonic minor.
