How to play a blues solo (video)

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

HOT NEWS! Finally, an EASY way to learn how to solo! One of the #1 problems for most guitarists is that once they learn scales, they can’t make the leap to actually playing a solo. We’ll I’ve finally figured out a way to solve that challenge!

It’s called, “50 Must-Know Blues Licks.” And it’s my new course.

CLICK HERE to check it out!

Here’s the method… Basically, I teach you 50 “must-know” blues licks which all come from the pentatonic scale. I explain how those licks are related to the scale so you understand WHAT your playing WHY. Then, I take the 50 licks and show you how to “cut-and-paste” them together to great an amazing solo. It’s easy!

This course is super-affordable because I don’t want anyone to get left out because of the price. And there are a couple of killer bonuses

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Sorry for the delay! I took a little mini-vacation. I had to get away for a while. Did some fishing and relaxed a bit.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know about the winners of the Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0 contest… This was really hard because there were over 600 contest entries! And there were some really good ones. I want to personally thank everyone who entered. I really appreciate taking your time to post your thoughtful contest entry.

The three winners were chosen based on how well they answered the questions of, “Why you want this course?” and “How to you think it will improve your playing?”

Here are the winners:

  • David Wright
  • Gareth Ackerman
  • Simba Mai

(You can read their winning posts here).

How to solo with just three strings!

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Thursday, July 16th at 3:00PM Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0 will be publicly available again for the 1st time in six MONTHS. And it’s all about blues baby! It’s a logical, step-by-step course with 9 DVDs (over 10hours of video) that takes you by the hand from blues beginner t0 blues shredder

I’ve got a killer video for you today (see below). But first I want to answer a few questions that I’ve gotten over the last couple of days…

  • “Is this for the beginner?” It’s for the beginner blues guitarist, but its’ not for the absolute beginner. It assumes you have some basic skills — you can play at least a few chords and you know some riffs and licks.
  • “Is it downloadable or online?” No. This is a physical course (9DVDs, 1 CD, 185 book) that will be shipped to via UPS ground (U.S.) or USPS International Airmail.
  • “What style of blues will I learn?” The course doesn’t focus on one particular style (like Chicago or Texas). Instead, it’s more of an complete survey of various blues guitar techniques. It starts with basic 12-bar blues songs forms. Then I introduce new chords (like dominants and 9ths). Then you’ll learn different rhythmic patterns like swing time, shuffle and 6/8. The next DVDs teach you all the blues scales you need know followed by 50 must-know blues licks. Next you’ll learn how to play those licks over the jam tracks. Finally, you’ll be creating full-blow blues leads from scratch. DVD9 is all about acoustic blues. You’ll learn nine songs in various blues styles (fingerpicking, delta, country, ragtime, etc).
  • “Can I pre-order?” No. Sorry, we’re just not set up to do that. But you can get a 1-hour head start on everyone else if you sign up for priority notification.

IMPORTANT! There are only 983 copies available (because we order in batches of 1000. And I gave away some copies to friends). And the low introductory price is only guaranteed until July 24th or until these initial copies are gone (whichever is first).

Also there 10, fast-mover bonuses for the 1st few people who order. All the details will be on the web site.

Ok, sooooooo now on to the good stuff!

Here’s a video from DVD 4 of Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0 which goes live Thursday, July 16th at 3:00PM.

You’re about to learn the, Three String Box Positions. These scale patterns come directly from the pentatonic minor scale. The difference is that you’ll only be using the top three strings: E, B, G.

Enjoy!

Mark your calendar! Because next week, Thursday, July 16th, Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0 is going to be *officially* back! And there are THREE reasons you’re going to want to grab your copy as soon as it’s available:

1. Limited quantity. Last December this course sold all 1,000 FAST. And it was taken off the market for six months. This time there are evefewer copies. So, it could sell out again really quickly.

2. Fast-mover bonuses. I’ve decided to include several bonuses for the 1st few people who order. (More details about these next week).

3. The price is going up. There will be an introductory price starting July 16. But it will be raised shortly after. Probably within the first week. (Maybe sooner).

Later this week, I’m going to make a special announcement about how you can get a copy of this entire course for FREE. So, be sure to check your email.

We’ve been flooded with emails and calls lately because people are worried that the course is going to  sell out again like it did when it was first released to the public. We had to close the web site and stock taking orders for six months!

The #1 concern is that some people can’t be in front of their computer early on Thursday morning. They’re worried that they won’t be one of the first to order and they won’t get the fast mover bonuses. We’ll everything is on a first-come, first-served basis. But I think if you’re able get the link early enough, you should be fine. :-)

Remember — the special discount link will be emailed to you early on Thursday morning! So keep an eye out for it!

Cheers!

P.S. The letters, “P, I, M, A” represent your fingers on your picking hand. P = thumb, I = index, M = middle, and A = ring finger. That’s the way fingerstyle is notated.
