NEW! Guitar Guru Secrets (coming June 2009)

This is exciting… I *finally* finished my new course for beginners: Guitar Guru Secrets. I’ve really been wanting to do this for years. But I just recently found the time.

Instead of creating a “course” that teaches you a few things, I’ve created an entire course curriculum. I sat down and looked at ALL of my big, Guitar Secrets courses: Blues, Acoustic, Lead, Amazing, Chords. And I realized that I didn’t have anything that really provides the step-by-step training for the absolute beginner. Probably my Amazing Guitar Secrets course is the closest thing, but it gets pretty advanced quickly (because the 2nd DVD gets into the harmonic minor scales, etc.)

Anyway, here is one of the lessons from my brand-spankin’ NEW course, Guitar Guru Secrets!

This course is going to be available soon... THIS month. And I’m going to be releasing tons of helpful videos. So you can learn a lot just by following along with the launch of this new home-study course!

So, grab you guitar and check out this video…

This text will be replaced

Oh yeah… the 1st question I always get is, “How much is this going to cost?” Well, honestly, I’m just not sure. But I will let you know that it will be very affordable because I don’t want anyone to get left out because of price. More details will follow as we get closer.

So, check your email often! (Then next video comes out early next week).

All the best!

Cheers,

Dan Denley

    Dan,

I hope that this is the course that I have been looking for. Most start slowly and then accelerate too quickly, leaving me in the dust. I need a course that moves slowly, spending a lot of time on changing chords.

    Dan,
COOL video…chord progression sounds GREAT and is very easy to play! Lookin’ forward to more!
Thanks for the videos…maybe I’ll be a Guitar Player yet!!

A camera angle looking down from YOUR point of view would allow a better view of finger placement. Some other videos do this

  • Gene Says:

Good information, I almost think sometimes you give a lot more than we may need but it seems nice to know anyway so keep it up. Thanks

I personally prefer the hard copy book to the online stuff. I don’t like to print out that much. I really
think you should consider a wholesale version of your courses. Primarily the older ones. A shop could stock them and either sell them or rent them out for so much per mo. There would have to be a built in profit for the
    dealer however. Think about it.

I purchased your Amazing Guitar Secrets……As an old dog beginner…over 50…I quickly got lost with too many scales, theory etc…….all I want is to be able to play acoustic with some of my friends on part time basis. I hope this course will fit that scheme.

  • Ali Says:

Dan I am teaching guitar in pakistan and my students likes you much…just wanna say thnx for the hard efforts u make for all of us !! :)

  • Tim Says:

I too have your Amazing Guitar Secrets, and got lost, then frustrated at myself pretty quick. I need some real detail to the bare basics of playing chords. Like another person said I need better video of where your fingers are at. When I am trying to learn, I get lost trying to listen, keep up, and trying to figure out if my fingers are where yours are at when I can’t see if your fingers are on a string or not. Sometimes it gets confusing (like trying to cut your hair in a mirror) trying to see your fingers and trying to look at mine at the same time. Hope I don’t sound hopeless, but if this course could get me past my learning block, anyone could learn to play the guitar. :)

  • Peter Says:

    Dan,
It looks like you’re just re-editing existing stuff. Does this new course contain anything new, or is it just pieces of your other course re-packaged? Not knocking the content (I really enjoy your lessons), but wonder whether I’ll get anything new if I buy it.

    God bless

    Hey,

I would like say hi, and thanks from Norway for your great courses!
I have had the guitar for 10-15years, but I have mostly been fooling around, getting no good start. Lately I have really gotten into playing the Blues and classic rock, and hard rock. I was gettin fedup with having no clue as to what I was dooing, just playing.. So I thought, why not get serius about it.. So I bought
“Legacy learning -Learn and master guitar”, and started from the complete beginning which felt strange, but none the less, It was quite good for me. But then “MR-THEORY” showed up and he just lost me.. Be very careful about throwing too much theory and Notes-learing and Harmony towards a beginner, I feel that It’s just too soon in a beginner course to start learning something that advanced… Especially for my Brain..
    My 2cents

But hopefully you have learned from other guys mistakes now, and would provide us the BEST.. :-)

If you take a look at how “stevie-snacks” on youtube has taken a completely diffrent shot at learning, perhaps you could get some ideas, espesially how he has marked his guitar neck/fretboard with different colors..
take a look here: espesially the written text here
    http://www.steviesnacks.com/lessons/lesson-series/essential-fretboard/
and check out the video here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF4Z4Z2aDA4&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Esteviesnacks%2Ecom%2Flessons%2Flesson%2Dseries%2Fessential%2Dfretboard%2F&feature=player_embedded

Maybe you could do something similar.. colors and diffrent camera-angles

I would encorage you to NOT release your course right now as is, before you have cheked out my comments and that steviesnacks video. Because If you combine:
    Steve Krenz’s
    Dan Denly’s and
Anthony Stauffer’s learning style, that would be THE BEST beginner-course EVER… and the only one needed :-D

Please do consider a second and different shot at making that beginners-course

Sorry about that long rambling, but I just had to get that information out to you.. before it’s too late.

    Take care Dan

Best regards from the west coast of Norway..

  • Dan Denley Says:

    Maricar,

It is good to memorize the scales. Try memorizing the movable patterns first, then it becomes much easier. And I promise, as with anything, especially the guitar, the more you do it, the easier it will be. Just stick with it - that is the most simple advice I can give. NOBODY has ever just picked up a guitar and been good. It takes practice, but I know you can get it.

  • Dan Denley Says:

    Pete,

This course will contain new things. In the beginning it’s all for beginners, so you may see some familiar things. As you progress and get better, new skills will be developed.

  • Dan Denley Says:

    Josh,

You should hear a difference. When you form the “Am”, and prepare to switch to the “C”, you need to only move your ring finger to the 5th string, 3rd fret, and do the opposite when switching from a C to an Am. Strum the chords slowly until you hear the difference.

  • Mike Says:

    Hi Dan,

I am an absolute beginner so I am looking forward to your course. I enjoyed the video you provided here.

I have two questions for you. One, when will this course be available this month and two, what will it cost?

    Mike

  • tommy Says:

Hey Dan, many thanks! Finally, something for the absolute beginner. I have searched far and wide for a practical course, suited for the genetically challenged ( folk with fingers that just do not remember where they should go!!) and this latest video gives me something I can work with immediately. I know there is no magic bullet to guitar playing and really, aspiring to be the next Hendrix, well, at my age (50)it is just not feasible. But playing something that sounds pretty cool, now that is what I am looking for. Keep sending the beginner lessons and should you know of any lessons for bass, I would appreciate your input. Regards, Tommy

  • John Says:

Yes, I was lost a DVD or two into AGS. I also bought a few other courses and had the same experience. What I am concerned about here is this too simple?

Do you get into actual chord progressions, for all major keys?

    Thanks

    John

    Hey Dan,

Any news on this Course? I think this is exactly what I need, and can’t wait to hear more!! I’m dont really care too much for the theory and book stuff of music, I just want to be able to strum some chords in a fashion that makes music good enough for others to know what song I’m playing around the campfire, and be able to read some chords of my favorite songs and actual make it sound like that song, and not a howling dog!!!

    Thanks,
    Ryan from Canada
