Mr. Denley, I’ve always wanted to play guitar. Aren’t you forgetting the left handed players?
March 31st, 2009 at 11:22 am
Dan,
I bought you’re new BGS2.0 course last December when it was first released.
If I understand correctly, this is actually DVD 1 from that course? Please confirm.
I don’t want to buy the same thing twice.

Hi Dan,
This sounds really great but I would much prefer to obtain the complete Blues 2.0 course. Any idea of availability?
Don
March 31st, 2009 at 11:32 am
Hi Dan
good to hear from you once again … I too have both Blues Guitar secrets and acoustic Guitar secrets - so I’d need to understand what if any gain there is for me in this “new” offering.
Hope there is something novel about the new product…. you can’t learn too much about the blues !!
Barry - as much as I’d like to sell you more stuff, I’d recommend that you NOT get, “Blues Guitar Basics.” The reason is because you already have this info covered in the complete Blues Guitar Secrets course (I assume you’re talking about the original course).
However, if you do NOT have Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0 I would definitely upgrade that course when it’s released again. (Coming soon!) There is a TON more info in BGS2.0 than the original course.
March 31st, 2009 at 11:36 am
Dan this sounds like a great idea i love blues and the way you teach i definitely have to get a copy of this DVD I’m in i will check back here when the doors open and thanks mate for all you have shown me already iv learnt a lot from you take care mate and keep up with the inspirational work teaching guitar.
Jason - thanks for the kind words. It’s comments like this that keep the fire burning!

I’m just beginner. Do you think that I’ll be able to benefit from this new DVD?
Thanks!
Alin - If by beginer you mean that you can play a couple of easy songs and you know three chords then YES! But if by “beginner” you mean that you’re still trying to figure out which end of the guitar to hold then, “no.” Ha Ha Ha. But seriously, this is going to be a GREAT place to start if you’re ready to “get your feet wet” and give blues guitar a fair effort.
March 31st, 2009 at 11:45 am
Dan, I’m a beginner right out of the shoot. Acoustic is my choice. Is this a course that will be suitable for beginners, or would you point me in another direction? I’m old, I love standards, and some light jazz. I just don’t know if this is good starting place or not.
Mark
March 31st, 2009 at 12:05 pm
hi, sounds good - like other readers I’m keen to know if its suitable for a beginner. I’d sell my soul to play some blues but am fed up of tutors and courses where they show you the easiest chords , then go straight into something dazzling I can’t play! I struggle to play anything in time or with a blues feel.
David - I think this is THE starting for aspiring blues guitarists.
I’ll be honest here… this is NOT one of my HUGE multi-disk courses. That’s not the point here. This is very affordable solution for guitarists who want to START learning how to play the blues. It’s a short DVD (about 1 hour) where I cover the general overview and blues music and how to play serveral standard blues songs forms and chords. Then if it goes well for you… you’ll be able to order the other DVDs in the series.
March 31st, 2009 at 12:16 pm
Hi Dan, This looks very interesting. Please reserve me a copy, and I,m sure that the balance will come in time. ps I,m in the uk
March 31st, 2009 at 12:29 pm
What is the cost? I would be interested in learning more.
Darren
Darren - I’m not 100% sure yet. My other courses sell for usually $100. But this will be less because it’s only one DVD. I’ll let you know soon… thanks for you post!

Hi Dan,
I really enjoy the guitar tuition s by you and, I have to ask you a favor, please if you have any good guitar books that I could use in future, please you could post it to box 101450-00101 Nairobi Kenya.
Thank you very much for the good work.
March 31st, 2009 at 3:32 pm
I’ve heard the story that the guitar Robert Johnson is holding in this one of the only known pictures of the Man is not his guitar and was loaned to him by a friend the day of the photo. I’ve got this guitar in my possession it is a 1921 Gibson L1 can you let me know anything about these stories? Your teaching system is very clean and nice. does it work as well for some folks as face to face? It does for me it’s just not as fun.
March 31st, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Dan the Man, how cool, I might be able to afford the new blues DVD coming out in parts and not all in one set, as I could not afford to pay out for the full set orignally.
So this is a great idea for us poor struggling musos!!
Keep on rocking Dan
Drisko - I think you’ll definitely be able to afford this one. It’s not really a “course” in the sense of my other courses that are like 5-10 DVDs. It’s really a starter place for beginners who want to learn the basics of blues. Hence the name… “Blues Guitar Basics Vol. 1″!
April 1st, 2009 at 6:54 am
Hi i visit through your blog and i found it very useful for me to learn the blues guitar basics. And i also liked the content of you blog.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:02 am
Mark - I think this is a perfect place to start. It’s a very basic level blues course designed especially for beginners. It’s not complicated and there isn’t a lot of theory. It’s most just playing blues and learning the fundamentals.
Dan

hey its awesome i wish i wil also play guiter like u one day
April 1st, 2009 at 8:24 am
I have this ‘open chord’ blues progression on my BGS2 course. I use this exact progression when someone says ‘oh you have a guitar, can you play something’. Its rerally manageable and straight forward to learn, and I get an awsome response evertime I play it for someone - by the way, if you want to play blues I can highly recommed Dans courses - my overall playing ability, not just my blues playing, has significantly improved, my guitar buddies were shocked at my progress! Dans courses work!
April 1st, 2009 at 8:56 am

April 1st, 2009 at 12:07 pm
Hi Dan,
I do know blues but not to the level where I can play solos. I wanted to learn on improvisation. Can you kindly let me know how can I go about learning improvisation. e.g If some one plays the 12 bar blues I would not be able to improvise on that and that is WAT I WANT TO DO.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Regards,
Arvind

Hey Dan,
Nice !!!
Thanks
April 1st, 2009 at 2:19 pm
Dan,
Why can’t I get your videos on your site?
I don’t have this problem with other sites.
Any ideas?
April 1st, 2009 at 3:37 pm
My instructor who is a great player and plays anything w/
strings thinks you are the best I have shared some of my courses w/ him. Amazing, Chords and Acoustic. He says
I don’t need him all I need to do is follow your courses
but I disagree because as good as your courses are they can’t repalce the immediate feed back you get with a live teacher. I think having his endorsement is something
to be proud of because I really respect his musical know-
ledge and ability. Also he has nothing to gain by saying
that your courses are by far the best he has seen.
April 1st, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Dan,you are the best in my book, your years of study were worth it. I hope i can aspire to become as good a guitar player as you. Thanks again for your emails and your time is greatly appreciated. Cloy Paul

I am a bit lost where to go from here with yr courses..I have been playing for 1yr and love blues but also love the sound of finger picking. Do you have anything in a course that covers alot of this..any suggetsion on which to go for next would be great. Thanks and I have improved alot from yr excellent tuition. Camille

April 2nd, 2009 at 8:07 pm
Bob, do you have the latest version of Flash Player installed? If not, head to download.com and it should be there for free
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Arvind,
I discuss this in Blues Guitar Basics Volume 1 and throughout the entire Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0 course, but improvisation comes from knowing the scales (particularly the blues pentatonic) in many positions so you can play and improvise all over the fretboard. I also discuss how to transpose 12-Bar Blues into different keys, so you would be able to improvise that way as well
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:12 pm
We will probably re-release the entire product later this month. Look for some emails.
April 2nd, 2009 at 10:30 pm

Dan
I just wanted to add my thanks for the pleasure im getting from the Big Enchillada, I am making real progress between yourself and my guitar tutor I especially love the “Pulled Pork Plate” piece in the video and when I brought it to my tutor he loved it and helped me with the reading of the music, now Im even getting compiments from my son !! he’s 29 yrs lol. So to recap, I’ve gone from music being Japanese to me, to it just being Greek, I’ve actually gone from being the worst guitarist in the world to being the worst guitarist in Ireland, that’s real progress, I can recommend your courses wholeheartedly and wish you the best.
PS I see you are playing the Piano also, if you ever do a course for that I will buy it.
April 3rd, 2009 at 8:20 am

I’m wondering, what beautiful piece by Racmaninoff or Rachmaninov ( i dont know which one is correct) were you playing? It sounded very beautiful.
Thanks,
Alberto

Dan,
Love the complete accoustic guitar course; I wanted to get the complete blues 2.0 course when it came out but I procrastinated and now I’ve looked all over the site and cannot find it ? What happened ? Let me know when the complete course becomes available again. Thanks.

I have been playing guitar since 1972 I played with some of the musicians in my home town, Memphis in the middle and late 70’s.I put the guitar down in early l980’s to raise my children cause the road is no place to raise kids. Having done that I have picked up where I left off and needing to reeducate myself I found your programs to help me to regain and surpass my past playing ability Thanks from a former Memphian who landed in San Antonio Texas— Walt
May 9th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Looking forward to your new course. How much is it? And how can i pay for it? Video was great, can’t wait to belting out some 12 bar blues
May 9th, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Love your teaching ways
Keep up the good work man.
Cool
May 11th, 2009 at 6:44 am
this is asome and mind blowing
May 11th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Well Dan, Im interested to purchase this other, smaller version of learning the blues.. You say after we learn this first lesson, there are other lessons?? Oh well,
ive taken up the harmonica too, so now I’m learning both at the same time! Whoa doggie… but it’s so much fun!!
May 11th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
I have been watching Dan for a quite a while and think he’s awesome! I have found it very difficult to find high quality guitar instruction from the internet. Despite money is tight, I am still interested. How much is the course? If it’s over $100+ is partial payments available? I would love to learn the Blues.
Thanks for your service and support.
Sincerely,
Chuck
