Did I just miss something. Who are the finalists? How did anyone vote when I never saw any info as to how to vote.
January 15th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
I coulda’ been a contender. My entry was brief, to the (actual) point and guaranteed to be 100% honest.
PS: You continue to do great work !

Good Luck to all the finalists.

Dan, in my opinion all ten people had wonderful things to say about your amazing guitar secrets. Perhaps I, too, should have submitted a reply, sorry too late, although I would love to win a martin accoustic. I think the 1st.person, the teacher over in Rhwanda should win the guitar for the simple reason that she is in a country torn apart by violence and crime and I think of these poor children who are the less unfortunate. These children not only need food other necessities of life but also the spirit of music that will live on in their hearts for years to come, not having the opportunity for someone to teach them would be a shame. I don’t what that teach has at her discretion but it can’t be very much, otherwise she wouldn’t have responded to your comments. All I have to say………It’s only my opinion….Thanks.
January 15th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Dan.
I can’t believe it but I am progressing nicely through your AGS course! I am finishing up the last of DVD 3 and am about to start Arpeggios on DVD 4. Needless to say the course is working for me. The songs are fun to play challenging to learn but once you get it it just kind of clicks.
I also take private lessons and my instructor has seen marked improvement in my playing since I received the course just before Christmas. I just voted for someone to win your Martin Guitar give away. I think all the candidates are worthy choices and who ever wins will be very very happy. I have the same guitar personally and can tell everyone it is fantastic.
Keep practicing everyone and enjoy the lifes journey of music.
January 15th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
The one that can’t afford it must win, I for one didn’t know about the contest but I still suck at guitar as I am trully a 64 year old beginner and a guitar like that would be wasted on me so far. Someday…..maybe….I’ll be a guitar player instead of a wannabee
January 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
I only wish I could afford to purchase Acustic Guitar Secrets however I live on a shoestring budget.

To the one who make this world a better place, Miss Huang you got my vote.
January 15th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
All ten responses are excellent. I can see why you’ve come up with this voting method to pick the winner. Any one of them will benefit from the free guitar and your great instruction. A winning combo.
January 15th, 2008 at 10:25 pm

I was really touched by her comment and her mentality towards achieving a solution to her health. May she cope up with her problems by constantly playing the guitar. This is a good getaway from pressures and problems. Wow, she is really something. If she can do it then those with rhematism should also engage in playing. Anyways, I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to vote.

I could have and appears maybe should have listed my life’s hard luck stories to win the judges sympathy.
As a single parent of severly handicapped and wheelchair bound young man (my biggest fan). Though has no speech let’s me know with a sparkle in his eyes and a grin, he loves my new found abilities. Just so you know, you’ve already made me a winner. Congrats to the 2nd prize winner on his/her new Martin guitar.
P.S. very ltd. budget, barely made Xmas, but don’t count me out. I’ll work on getting the new course in near future. Thanks, Tom.
January 16th, 2008 at 12:22 am
All of them are truly inspired, But how will i know who’s winning on this contest? How about us? do we have are prize for voting? hehehehe just kidding,,
Good luck to all,,,
PS. Thanks DAN.
January 16th, 2008 at 12:29 am
may the best person win i enjoy your course
January 16th, 2008 at 2:21 am
Dan and Lisa I am truely humbled that my reason got into the top 10. I’m still working on speeding my scales up and even got a complement from my wife that she was having trouble deciding if that was me playing or the DVD. Winning a great guitar was not even in my dreams. Thanks for giving me a chance at something that I could only dream of. I read in one of the others that they were also sharing with their children and grand children. Same here, my grandson wanted to learn some songs to play and he grabbed the power cords and away he went. He is learning open cords at his own pace but the those power cords put him right into songs quickly and you have given him something that will last him a lifetime and a memory to boot of grandpa helping him get started playing. As you can see by most of the comments we are all winners from getting your course. Thanks again….William
January 16th, 2008 at 2:39 am
Hi Dan,
Great that the people can vote for the winner! May the person who will do the most good with the guitar, win! The world needs to support people who think about more than themselves.
You seem to be an excellent teacher and your program well worth it. I have unfortunately bought another program shortly before seeing yours. Because of financial limitations I cannot afford yours. What a pity! Keep up the great work you do and may God bless you richly! Hannes.
January 16th, 2008 at 4:12 am
I sure pray that Linda Huang will do a marvellous work with the Rwanda people; with her new Martin guitar. God bless you and your dedications. Please let me hear you sing with the new Martin in your hands.
January 16th, 2008 at 4:24 am
Th amazing guitar has done what I needed, a point of focus to stop me straying from the hard “I do not want to play scales line” but it has really helped with the mental picture, I did not enter, I have not selected to purchase this course due to the fact I do not want to side track yet. Playing for so long without knowledge of scales and modes and how they all work has been a burden but I am overcoming this. Dan, you have done great work, thank you. My vote has been lodged.Cheers.
January 16th, 2008 at 4:51 am
Dan, you’re incredible. I just want to tell you that your Blues Guitar Secrets is really really inspiring and informative. I live in Thailand, and have been playing guitar for…a bit more than 30 years since 15 but on and off basis, now I’m 48. I considered myself a guitar player with so many gaps in my playing knowing nothing about guitar theory at all even though I could fingerpickin’ The Boxer and You’ve Got a Friend quite well. Your course made me understand and appreciate more of guitar playing and listening. I thank you for that.
I’ve already voted and good luck to all. I think everyone ’s a true winner accomplishing your own goals and live the live.
Again, million thanks to you Dan!
January 16th, 2008 at 5:12 am
testing testing testing Houston, do you read us?
January 16th, 2008 at 5:59 am
Blessings Dan, Lisa, and all!
I too, even as William Grey, am humbled to be one of the 10 “semi-finalists”. We sit on pins and needles hoping, and then we each think, this is too good to be true! But the skills we learn from Acoustic Guitar Secrets will be worth much more than most any guitar in the long run, because like one poster said, to paraphrase it, “a good player will sound good on any guitar (reasonably good that is), but a bad player will sound just as bad on even a Martin!” To that I offer a hardy “amen”.
I am a little dissappointed that somehow the second half of my entry got cut off though, and I was wondering if it could be put back up. It goes to the heart of how I feel; both (1) my excitement concerning the course, as well as (2) how I feel it will help me. These both got left off my entry (#8)
Folks, naturally each one of us are hoping to be one of the three chosen as semi-finalists in this phase. I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t care. If I am not chosen, I won’t consider myself a sore loser. I won’t even consider my self a loser at all. I will say I just didn’t win this phase. But in life I am a winner. We all are winners if we take these courses Dan has so skillfully put together seriously.
But nonetheless, and with the hopes that a few might be reading down here before casting their votes, and in the event that somehow the balance of my entry does not get put up at the “voting booth” before the end of the current “run-off” voting, I’d like for those who do read here before they cast their votes, to have an opportunity to read the 2nd half of my post (you can also read it from the website where the entries were made on December 13th, 2007 at 4:19 PM.
I’m not telling you who to vote for, or “suggesting” it either, or to “suggest” that someone (including myself) already has it in the bag. That would be vote peddling. In the next phase, if I am not there, I will vote for the entrant I think has followed the rules best, and fulfilled the spirit of what Dan was asking for the best. Each of us should go with our own heart. Anyway, here is the part that didn’t get posted at the “voting booth”, including a couple lines from the end of what did get posted. So here goes:
It’s about Dan helping us. We don’t do it alone, and Dan doesn’t do it for us. It’s a means to an end, and probably the BEST MEANS TO AN END AVAILABLE ON THE PLANET. (As an aside, I went through some arpeggiating with Dan by pick, in one of the sample lessons from this new course, and as I usually do it by finger, and wow, I never tried it like he teaches it – it is awesome!) I don’t pretend to know all the “techniques” I am going to learn. I just know that this course will help me in a thousand ways. Thanks Dan!
I realize you have children of your own, but Dan, these girls would still bring tears to your eyes, whether they be of laughter or joy (if you could hear with your heart’s ear as I do) when you hear them sing as I play (don’t ask me to sing)! I would love to have you help me teach them through this course. My eyes teared up immensely as I first penned these words, even as they do now, and I write from my heart. That’s how much a course like yours would mean to me, and would help me, but I don’t know when I can even afford the very affordable cost of your program (as I believe all of your programs are affordable to most folk), but I mean to get it some day as soon as possible.
You see, we just took on our daughter and our 3 granddaughters 6 months ago. This necessitated moving from a very small apartment to a larger house to accommodate a larger family. Our rent went way up, but our disability check did not. But I can certainly say this much: Your program is way more affordable than lessons for 3 grandchildren. On top of that, it is much more convenient than taking them to lessons. THEN THINK OF THE PRICE OF GAS GUYS AND GALS! YOU KNOW WHAT? I HAVE JUST SOLD MYSELF NOT TO WAIT! I CANNOT NOT AFFORD NOT TO GET THIS PROGRAM, AND I AM GOING TO ORDER IT TODAY AND FIGURE OUT A WAY TO PAY FOR IT.
So, how will it help me? I GET TO LEARN BETTER. SO DO MY GRAND DAUGHTERS, AND I GET TO BE INVOLVED IN THEIR LEARNING, WITH DAN! – AND THEN I SAVE A TON OF TIME NOT DRIVING THEM TO LESSONS, AND A TON OF MONEY ON GAS. ALL FOUR OF US HAVE THE BEST TEACHER AROUND. YEP, THOSE ARE A LOT OF WAYS THIS PROGRAM WILL HELP ME! YESSIREE! Anyway Dan, YES I would definitely BENEFIT, but not for me PERSONALLY, and I have told you and the others HOW I would benefit, from your program, (and yet it WOULD be for me; does that sound like a contradiction? I hope not!
), but for our GRANDDAUGHTERS, because THEY would really become motivated to learn, and GRANDPA would have the tools he needs to work with them — DAN DENLEY’S Amazing ACOUSTIC GUITAR SECRETS. My mouth WATERS every time I READ about your offers; every time I WATCH one of your lessons!
Finally Dan, I didn’t want to mention the Martin Guitar, because that is the prize. It’s not the contest. But if I am fortunate enough to be one of the three, that will be a prize in itself. I want my granddaughters to see what determination is, because this little essay is a part of their homeschooling, though they don’t know it yet. And then if I make it this far, and I am fortunate enough to hold that Martin, tears will stream down my face with pride when my granddaughters just begin lo learn something of the lesson of persistence, patience, and well doing. It is really for them that I write this little essay, and I hope it will stick with them the rest of their lives and that they will learn something from it.
Most Sincerely,
Kenneth Lockhart

Hi Dan and Lisa
I got your amazing guitar secrets a short while ago and I
have one problem. By the time I get to watch the video It
is late at night and I keep falling asleep before I get to far into it. My wife says you must be singing me a lullaby.

Good luck to all the finalists
PS: Thanks DAN
January 16th, 2008 at 9:26 am
Thanks for the opportunity to vote. I know the winner will enjoy the Martin. Thanks Dan for giving us a chance to win and thanks for the great guitar courses. I have all four and am looking forward to the next installment. After one year of learning from Dan I have progressed more than I did trying to teach myself for years. Thanks again Dan, Lisa, and all involved in making us guitar players.
January 16th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Thank you Dan for the chance to vote. All the best and good luck to all. The fortunate winner will certainly have much enjoyment with a Martin.

Somehow I just could’nt bring myself to vote for the ones who wrote the ad scripts and novels, so I just chose the one who seemed sincere and really needed the Martin.
Ken
January 16th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Ummm, ok Ken Tucker, I realize it’s a long shot. And I probably won’t win. I didn’t come into this world with a Martin, and it’s certain I won’t go out of it with one either. But politicising this event doesn’t get any of us anywhere now does it? I can assure you and others my entry was downright as sincere as they come. But no one has to vote for anyone if they don’t wish to. They can vote for the shortest or the longest, the sincerest or the least sincere, the most ad copy or the least. But one who really NEEDS a Martin? ummmm, that’s a stretch. I would LOVE to have a Martin, but do I NEED it???? Is that what it takes to WIN it? I hope not, because 99.99 % of us should not have entered if that be the case. No one needs a guitar of any sort to survive. But all the contestants would really LIKE to win a Martin, but few can part with a $1000 to $1400 for one. Such am I. I can hardly afford the money for the 2 programs I ordered, but I figured out a way to pay for them. I DID put my money and my mouth together. Sorry if you think some of us are Ad Script people. We are ALL trying to do the same thing. What is so wrong with that?? Heck, we are all trying to win. That is natural, normal, and human. Come on now, give us a break. I am glad you won’t be judging me on judgment day. In fact, I am glad that Christ the righteous Judge, and not a bunch of panelists (sinners like me) will be doing that. I would be in a real heap of trouble. David of the old Testament let God Judge him. He said he’d rather be judged by God, not by man. So I will take my leave at that. But, I commend you Ken, on looking for sincerety. But keep in mind, sometimes sincerety can lead to trouble, especially if one is “sincerely wrong”. I am sure your motives are good however. God bless you, and as Dr. Laura is wont to say, “Now, go take on the day!”
Sincerely, Ken
January 16th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Ken Lockhart has my vote since I am disabled and nearing 60 and trying to learn to play guitar. Thanks to Dan for making courses that we can take at home, at our own pace and learn no matter what age we are in years or spirit. A slow pace is better than not learning at all so everyone keep on playing.
Sincerely,
Jane

I think the words of the man by the name of Ken Lockhart hs said it plain and simple its in God’s hands and i hope people will read the words of this man for some strange reason i feel that he is speaking the truth.
I myself win this man good luck and may God be on his side winning is not everything but living is and we all only get one chance to live and live we must all do no matter what hand is given to us.

To Wendy Bassey:
To vote, you need to go back and click on the link that took you to the original page to vote where you read up on each contestant. Underneath each entry there is a “dot” where you can place your curser and make a check mark. Vote for only one. Then scroll down and click done. If clicking on the link does not take you to the original page, then email customer support at customersupport@amazingguitarsecrets.com to see if they can help resolve the problem. By the way, my entry, #8, did not get fully posted because there is a character limit I understand. Anyone desiring to read my entry in its entirety should click on my name (or web page?) above this post where they will be then be taken to the original post. The 2nd half tells more. Thanks, and happy voting. Best wishes to ALL the contestants. I know we all want to win, and it’s a long shot, but we can ALL LEARN HOW TO PLAY if we just follow the good videos Dan shares with us, or the course(s) we purchased. I look forward to explode in my playing abilities, God willing. I know I am willing.
Sincerely,
Ken Lockhart

Why is this so difficult? There is no link to a finalist page. No one should win this guitar until all of us have a chance to vote. I could be a finalist and don’t even know it. The contest will be unfair if the voting process is only for the few people who claim to have voted already. The last comment from Dan is to check back soon. There are no other links that show finalists yet. All the other links worked great. Where is the link to voting? I’m not mad just confused and I want to vote. Everyone deserves to vote. Maybe Dan is pulling an Oprah and sending everyone a guitar. Wow thats a cool dream isn’t it. Seriously Dan I want to here from you how to vote.
January 18th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
My vote went to ken lockheart. I was torn between him and the lady in Africa. I finally decided with lockheart I homeschool my 3 children and I know the challenge face each day. Althought, it can be very rewarding and fun. I know the finances can be difficult too. I have a passion for all my children to play an musical instrument. And maybe one day I will have a martin guitar too.
Good Luck

Kenneth Lockhart has my vote because he is an example of someone trying top do good for those around him, not just himself.
January 22nd, 2008 at 9:49 am
there was no option to vote for someone… there seems to be a bug in the process!
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:33 am
I’m sure there are many people who are in this contest who seem to be selfish asking for this beautiful guitar. Each person has asked for the guitar for many different reasons, mostly for ourselves. I don’t believe that in most instances that this is wrong to do. There are many people who give of themselves and don’t ever ask for anything in return. We don’t know any of these people who entered contest. Everyone who entered is asking for themselves but everyone will also be helping others if they win. I probably won’t win but whoever does will be bringing more music into this world. So, whoever wins this guitar will play for others and enrich our world with music. Everyone in the contest deserves this guitar, so Dan just choose one please! As far as I’m concerned put all the names in a hat if the voting link won’t work and choose one. The 15th has come and gone and we still wait for a winner. Wait we are all winners because we play the guitar but we still want to know who will at least sound better.
January 22nd, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Candy,
If you are receiving emails from amazingguitarsecrets, then you should have received a link to click on to vote. There you would have found 10 semi-finalists that the staff chose (you were not one, nor was your mentor). There you would have been told to click on a button next to one of the 10 names, and then go to the bottom of the page and click “done”. You need to check all your emails from AGS to see if you might have missed that, or email support to ask for the link again. However it might be too late soon anyway, because I am sure the voting for the 10 is almost over. From there the vote will be for the top 3 vote getters. I am sure the reason the link is not published is because it is an invitational vote only; not for the “general public”. So check your emails very carefully. To anyone who just casually pops in and is not a member of AGS website, and does not receive updates, no, there is NOT a link, I imagine for the above mentioned reason. So again, if you received regular emails, take heart my friends, go back and check your emails, you probably missed something. My email came around Jan 15. Look for an invite around Jan 14 through 17th. But only if you receive other regular emails.
Good luck!

I put my vote for Ken Lockhart, he seemed the most sincere and honest. I am not easily duped by the obvious phony that is in the running. Sorry, just my opinion

January 24th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
OK so when do we see the final three?
January 25th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
I have not only loved the CD’s I have loved all the extras. This guitar give-a-way has been awesome and I know that whom ever wins, will truly enjoy it more because of this course.
January 25th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I would like to have been among the contenders and would have enjoyed having the Martin guitar. Being a “senior citizen” and on a fixed income I can well understand Mr. Kenneth Lockhart’s situation and appreciate his desire to convey his love of music to his granddaughters. Although, the three final contenders all are deserving of the Martin guitar, I feel he is more deserving than the other two. Since I didn’t make the cut I will start saving for my dream of owning a Martin guitar out in the future sometime. My dream is a D28 or HD28.

Hi Dan
I hope the girl from Rwanda wins , I don,t even know what its like there only what you hear on the wireless & tv , pretty hard living i,d say . I live in Australia and have been to a couple of different places in the world , and i think wow i do live in one of the best countrys in the world and thats why i am giving my vote to her .
Great courses Dan cheers mate
January 25th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
How about this as a surprise: They all win a Martin Guitar being that they all deserve to win. If I had the money, I would buy one for each of them and keep it a surprise. Plus just imagine the good publicity it would bring to you and your company.
January 25th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Hi Dan,
Again I vote for Linda and I hope this instrument wil be
like Davids harp to her. To Linda … keep on doing your good work to help needed people and to you Dan… God Bless! By the way Dan .. it was a good tip to buy
Steve Krenz course, it’s very very clear.

Dang it!! I knew I was too ordinary to win anything! I am a perfectly healthy individual with no ailments to hinder me. Dang me and my health!! Maybe I should have thrown in the fact I’ve been cleaning school kid’s toilets for 21 years..maybe got a few sympathy votes lol. Congrats you guys…rock on!!
January 25th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
keep up the good work good listen.
January 25th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Finger crossing didn’t work again. LOL Still working on the course just need to find an acoustic. My old peavy predator will just have to do for a little while longer its pretty resonant for a old electric guitar , I can hear some acoustic in it with the little squire amp turned down low. Congrats to who ever the winner will be. Thanks to all who voted for me and I did keep too the subject to why I was excited not to why I should deserve a free guitar…………..William Gray

The two runners up should at least get a free copy of a guitar course of their choice from you. Really though how is anyone supposed to know who is really truthful and who is blowing smoke. I’ve seen every tactic applied in the responses from praise to sob stories and everything in between. Who is really deserving? The one who writes the most believable story that’s who. When you have a contest such as this 1 person becomes very happy and everyone else gets disgruntled and let down. Who really wins? The person making the huge profit that can afford to give something of value away. If teaching and sharing such a joy as music is as awe inspiring and a type of religion to the instructor, it should be given freely…OK, I give in to covering cost of manufacture and postage but that is the only concession. If it hasn’t been obvious, yeah I feel slighted I didn’t get something for nothing, but ya know what? I’m not the only one. Yes, you have talent, not only in singing for your supper but in salesmanship. maybe a lot of us have learned something more here than you thought you were teaching.

I don’t feel that way at all. My orginal post says it all. “If I am fortunate enough to be one of the three, that will be a prize in itself.” I appreciate those who voted for me, and to get this far is an honor. If I “eat” these words, so what? As far as a profit, Dan’s “business” is merely the free enterprise system at work, and if a person has a good enough product, why shouldn’t he make a profit? GM, Ford, Chrysler, Apple and all the rest do it. They don’t give all their cars and computers away. I didn’t come into this world with a Martin and I won’t go out with one. I would sincerely enjoy having and playing one, but if I am going to sound better on one, I am going to have to learn how to play better. That’s where these courses come in. I have no regrets ordering Amazing Guitar Secrets or Acoustic Guitar Secrets, both for what they will do for me or my Granddaughters. That is a reward in itself. Thank you to all who voted for me. And I know the deserving ladies whom I now share the voting with are also appreciative for their votes as well. Now we’ll just wait for the outcome and accept it. At least I know I will not be “disgruntled and let down” if I am not the winner. I am already blessed in many ways.

I was not referring to Sel’s post that slipped in before I hit the submit button, but to the message above his.

I want to take a moment to say that your efforts and hard work have made me appreciate my guitars more then ever before. It seemed that I was all alone in the world with my sweethearts (135 guitars). I love them all!
Every email you have sent me has been saved in a special file. Please do not get discouraged, you are truly touching our lives. I love your hard work and I truly appreciate you with profound respect.

Good luck to the granddad who wants to help his 3 grandchildren. Americans need all the help they can get to keep families together in a loving environment with all the dangers kids face today. Kids - you are luck to have this guy in your life.
Keep on rocking granddad!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all congratulations to our 3 finalists.
I was honored to see my name on the final page… Must say that was most unexpected and for all the people out there who are thinking about using Dan’s course…
Let me say this.. I’ve been playing for just under a year now and I’m starting to gain some actual “talent”. Just Dan’s outlook on things such as the differences between “talent” and hardwork are worth the price of admission.
There is not a single day that goes by.. and I practice every day… rain or shine.. work or off.. sunny or rainy.. but there’s not a single day that I do not pick up Dan’s materials and work on something contained within them.
This course is not only comprehensive.. it remains interesting over time.
I want to thank Dan and his staff for making the guitar available to me. I was one of these people who definitely thought that playing a musical instrument was simply the result of somebody picking up a “flute” and discovering that when they blew into it.. they were Jethro Tull’s flotist ..lol.
Boy was I wrong..
If you think any “course” will suddenly make you Jimmy Page.. well then I don’t think you comprehend the hours that Mr Page spent quietly in his room perfecting his art… but Dan’s course covers stuff that I don’t even realize until I go out and try something new.. and suddenly when I flip open a songbook.. there are patterns .. patterns that Dan’s course covers.
I use it every day.. and thanks Dan for writing such a great course.. I haven’t had a chance to check out Acoustic yet… b/c frankly I’m still working on “Mastering” the concepts of amazing.. but I’m sure I’ll take a peek soon.. maybe in the spring early summer.
Have a great year everyone… and For anyone out there trying to do some classics like Stairway… message or email me b/c the tabs don’t line up and the sheet music is given by Jimmy himself but I’m having some trouble matching up what’s on paper with what I know the song to sound like.
Thanks again.. and have a great year and Congratulations to our winners.
We’re all winners for having found this course! BK
