Hello brother & sister guitarists!
Hope you’re all doing well. We’re getting closer and closer to the release of my new Lead Guitar Secrets course next month. The DVD’s & CD’s are being replicated and I’m currently proofing the book. (It’s taking forever because there are tons of musical examples!)
Anyway, people are really starting to get excited. Email has been pouring in lately about the previous two videos from LGS: finger strength and modes.

I studied music for 2 years in college,with one year of classical guitar. It’s fantastic to hear these theoretical concepts (like modes) really start to make sense. Video #1: Horizontal fretboard movement
Horizontal movement basically means moving up and down the fretboard. You do this by understanding how scale patterns are related.
Video #2: Three-string box positions
Box positions are used extensively by blues & rock guitarists. They are simply the 3-string versions of the pentatonic minor patterns.
Video #3: Connecting scale patterns
The ability to connect scale patterns is the key to being able to achieve total freedom in your solo. In this video I demonstrate how to connect patterns 1 & 2 of pentatonic minor.

Hi Robert,
Actually LGS doesn’t require any previous knowledge of scales/theory or anything from AGS or my Blues course. (Of course, it won’t hurt!). But to answer your question, it’s actually a “stand-alone” product.

Hi Dan,
Great vids once again!
My major problem is still working correct with my plectrum (you know up and down and up and down etc)
i usually play with fingers, pull offs and hammer-ons and bending
I’m still thinking of buying a course

Dan, I have struggled for many years trying to learn how to play the guitar including lessons and jam sessions. Hi Dan
I’m an absolute beginner. Although I am familiar with what the fretboard is, etc, when it comes to things like first position, pentatonic, etc, I am lost. I watched the videos and have a very difficult time “seeing” what you are doing. (like with the box patterns) I also have a tough time with barr chords (my fingers don’t cooperate). I would like to purchase a course that would help me to learn to play guitar but hesitate to do so. I am currently looking at video/sampling of three different courses but, again, because I am having such a hard time following the information, I hesitate to purchase. (I am a female so perhaps that has something to do with it… haha) If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate the direction.

You have a lot of good information here and your style of teaching is great. I have to say I’m not new at this and consider myself after 42 years of playing a professional guitarist. Hi Dan. I’m from the U.K. I am interested in your course (and appreciate the good faith you show by previewing such good course content at no cost!). Will the DVD’s play over here? I guess they will on my laptop, my question is really…Have you had any feedback on this subject from the UK/Euro zone?

Thanks for the video’s Dan. Thanks for pushing me to learn with all your e-mails. I haven’t touched my guitar in a few months do to, to much work! I will start again in late September. The 4 DVD’s that come with the course are “replicated” using DVD standards. It’s the same process as the big, Hollywood producers use to mass produce DVDs.
We used the same process for Amazing Guitar Secrets and Blues Guitar Secrets. We ship those DVDs around the globe (a LOT to the U.K.) on a daily basis. And to my knowledge they work fine. (Although we have a couple customer with VERY old DVD players that had some trouble.)
But as whole, the DVDs should play fine.

Here’s the “Big Question”.
I loved the 3 video’s that I just watched. The problem is I have to have the “Tabs” of all lessons in order to “get it”!
I can watch the video, but I have to have the tabs to really see what you are playing.
Will the new course have all lessons with tabs?

Hi Dan,
I’ve been a music teacher for twenty years. I find the way you explain playing leads using the minor pentatonic to be very easy to understand. I teach in the same style as you and we both know that this style seems to get people playing at a faster rate than the old “Polly Wally Doodle All Day” style of the old style teachers of my youth. If a player has any feel at all he/she can really go to town using the minor pentatonic.

hi dan simple information and easy to follow ive been playing of and on over last 20 years self taught i suppose, i can listen to a cd and jam along with it in my own flavour i listen to srv, carlos, gary moore, peter green, all the kings, bb ,fredie ,albert, angus young, ect but i dont understand guitar formula or if u like theroy i know chords and scales, i cant play a song even if i like it, i just jam away in my own way but need to move on as im becoming stale playing same things over and over any idead please? dave!!!
