Default Learning lead from CD

I had a sudden passion to learn some of Keith Richard's leads from CD - decided to try Slowgold - tested some cheaper ones, but didn't have the features I needed. Anyway, this did just what I needed, Pop the CD in, select the track and the part I want to learn, then play it over and over at any speed with no change in pitch. Guitar in hand, and Word open with a guitar tabs page, and I'm writing the tab no problem - plenty of time to ponder over the tricky parts. To anyone copying lead from CD etc, if your having problems (as I was - memory banks not as good as I'd like) this is the way to go. I'd be interested in comments from others on this.

Default Fun with the Pentatonic minor

Further to my last post, I've just enjoyed learning the lead in "Sympathy for the Devil" - Rolling Stones. It's great practice for the E Pentatonic minor scale. I recommend it to anyone getting bored with just playing the scales. I have worked out the tabs if anyone is interested.

Unfortunately from time to time spammers hack into our system, but the posts have all been removed, and the spammers banned. We try hard to keep a close eye on this stuff!

Any idea what pickups Keith used? did he just use the stock pickups in his guitars? Also, didn't Ronnie Wood play lead?

I think he tuned to open G and rarely used a high E string.

Jack, He does use open G and mostly on a Telecaster with the top string removed to make the tonic 5th string heard first. When tuned open G it's a blast playing HonkyTonk Women, and Brown Sugar. Don't know for sure, but the pickups look stock.Billyb
