Default Guitar effects Pedals

Hi all,
Please forgive me if I am in the wrong forum, I am a newbie to the site , just bought the Big Enchillada, great, My question is: I need an effects pedal, I know the sounds I'm looking for , just cant get them, eg David Gilmour Pink Floyd long sustain, Mark Knopfler, and any nice clean long sustain or delay , not quite sure what I need for this in terms of effects pedal. I have a Digitech multieffects 50, Peavey solid body, Godin Radiator, and Fender Valve Deluxe. Cannot make sense out of the digi tech effects pedal. It seems to be too much or too little.
Would appreciate any help I can get.
PS I am just an adult beginner learning the guitar

You have got to check out the Digitech Hardwire DL 8 Delay pedal. I posted about it earlier. At my local shop they call it a delay pedal on steroids. It cost a little more than your basic single pedals, and runs around 150.00 but does alot. It has loop effects for instant foot pedal recordings for repeated chord progressions so you can play over them, I didn't know this when I bought it, and up to 8 delay signals and a reverse effect thats strange but cool, and has a variaty of clean reverb sounds added to the delays. I ran this pedal in parallel with a chorus pedal thru a Marshall TSL, and woke up some neighbors. It's also a true bypass signal, not changing amp quality. You can look it up on line for a detailed discription. This is all easier than it sounds. Plug in to one at your shop an see what you think. Billyb

Do'in Another Brick in The Wall part One, with the delay. My family comes in to hear it from watching TV. Badassed, Gilmour rules. Billyb
