Hello,
I own Amazing Guitar Secrets course. I need your help because I think there is some errors in the book about the DVD lessons (Guide Book) that came with the course. I list here those errors but I'll need your help to certified that is really an error. ************* -At page 42, I think there is an error with the power chords represented here (E and D on the right column). -At page 49-50, there is some errors on the different GM7 chords pattern showed (I looked in another chords book I own and using GuitarCodex Plus software). -At page 57, the G Melodic Jazz Minor Scale showed contains 4 bad notes (I think the tablature I see here is the descending scale instead of the ascending one; again I used GuitarCodex Plus software to know that). -At page 66, those three chords I see (Gsus4, G7M9 and G11) contains probably some errors too because I can't find it anywhere (GuitarCodex Plus software can't find the chords after placing the different notes on the board). -Table of contents: some topics points to the bad pages on its specific book (this one is about all the books and not only the Guide Book). ************* Probably that some of you will need a more detailed explanation of the errors I found. Just ask me. Please note that for many errors here I am confident with my own modifications in the book. So go ahead and let me know the exact thing that should appear in the book (again if it's really an error). Maybe Dan will quickly validate the real errors and answer back with the exact corrections. Thanks in advance to you Dan. Thanks to all of you for reading. That'll help me to get a better Amazing Guitar Secrets course experience certainly. I'm confused - I don't have a lesson book. All the courses were made available over the internet, approximately on a monthly basis over the past year. Each lesson has sheet music/notes, and each page is numbered starting from page 1 for each lesson.
Am I missing something? |

Are you talking about that? I heard that it's no longer the way to distribute the course. Well maybe you're an old customer of the course. If I log in the Web site, I see the same books as the paper ones I have. I checked and there is the same errors (if they are really errors) too.
Thanks to give feedback on it. Jonathan PS: I emailed support to let them know that anyone can login here without even providing a username and a password (i.e. blank)! |

Found the book. Below are my comments, but I'm no expert!! 1. P42 Agree with your comments - the top right is a D power chord, and the bottom right is an A power chord. The B is correct 2. P49 - don't see a problem with this, except that you wouldn't play the 1st (high E) string. (should be marked with X. We're probably just meant to play the strings with fingers on the frets. These are - root (G), 3rd (B), and Maj 7th (F sharp). On P 50, the same applies to the 1st chart. On the middle chart, the notes are G, Fsharp, B and F sharp. For the right chart, the 5 and 6 strings should be marked with X - don't play them. The other notes are Fsharp, Bflat, Dflat and F - the problem is that this is played from the 2nd fret, so raise everything up a semitone to G, B, D and F sharp. See the bold line at the top of the diagram on the left and middle charts - this indicates the bottom of the fret board. The right chart should have a 2 beside the first line to indicate that it starts from the 2nd fret. 3. I agree the notes are wrong on p57 - this isn't the major scale with a flat 3rd (which is the jazz minor scale), which would be G, A, Bflat, C, D, Fsharp. 4. P66 G sus4 is correct but don't play the 1st and 2nd (E, B) strings. G7M9 is correct but don't play the 1st and second strings.Note that this is Gseventh major nineth, or just G9. (you may have thought it was a minor ninth) Overall, there's some errors, and lack of information. I think Dan needs to urgently correct these (and others?) and notify everyone. |

Ross,
I agree will all you explanations except 2 and 4. ************* 2. The p.49 and p.50 refer to GM7. In GM7 you have intervals 1,3,5,7 which is GBDF# so the pattern on p.49 and the left pattern on p.50 are wrong (D on the 2nd string and an X on the 1st string is missing). On p.50 the middle pattern is okay (except an X on the 1st string is missing). On p.50 the right pattern is okay (except an X on the 5th and 6th string and an indication on which string to play those notes i.e. 2 fr. next to the pattern is missing). 4. P.66 show 3 different chords. In Gsus4 you have intervals 1,4,5 which is GCD so the pattern here is wrong. In G7M9 (or G9) you have intervals 1,3,5,b7,9 which is GBDFA so the pattern here is wrong. In G11 you have 1,3,5,b7,9,11 which is GBDFAC so the pattern here is wrong. 5.Table of contents of some books is often wrong. It's not big deal but there is errors also. I'd like to let Dan know it too. ************* Maybe I can be wrong here so no problem and let me know. If you found other errors in a book let me know. I am still beginner/intermediate player so some errors in a book can get me in the wrong direction. I'll need some clarifications by Dan urgently like you said. Don't know if you can reach him faster than me but we need his help anyway. I think he must scan all of his books to let us know where are the errors in his literature. I am talking about Amazing Guitar Secrets course. I don't know for his other courses since I don't own it. I purchased this one at the end of summer of 2007. I left the course to get other books because I found that kind of errors here and there. Some was not real errors but for a beginner when you are certain of some you see errors everywhere. Don't know if you understand... Please note that I emailed Dan and submitted a ticket on his support Web site about this particular concern. Thank you and hope to hear Dan very soon about those issues. Last edited by jonathanp; 01-18-2009 at 11:55 PM. |

P49 string 2 open is B, which is part of the chord. It doesn't need to be D. It can be any note that is part of the chord). You can also play B or D here. Page 66, You're right - Gsus as you say is G, C, D. In the diagram, string 6 is G, string 5 should be C - moved up one fret to the same as stings 4 and 6. Sorry, I missed this one when I checked. P66, G7M9 you are correct that the notes are G, B, D, F, A. String 6 is G, string 5 is B, string 4 is F, String 3 is A, String 2 is B. String 2 can also be on the 3rd fret if you want the D included. This all looks correct. Note that it's not necessary to always include every note in the chord. The easiest way to play this chord is just strings 1 to 5, with a finger on string 1 first fret (F). - Very easy to change from G major to this form of Gsus. G11 doesn't have a B in it - G, D, F, A, C. As I said, play on the 3rd fret, and only play the strings with fingers on them, and you have G, F and C. The other notes are missing, but they aren't essential. As before, there are much easier formations that capture more notes, but it's still correct. I can't contact Dan any easier than you can - we're in the same position. |

Ross,
Okay, maybe I made some errors while checking those errors! I still a new guitar player. But there still errors in it. Quote:

But we agree that there is a big lack of information and many errors are present. I will post again soon to list the real errors we found. But quickly we can name the power chords, the G Melodic Jazz Minor Scale, several patterns with missing "X" and fret indication. Well even if I learn by looking what is a real error, I lost precious time to pratice and get good theory. I need Dan's reply in a few hours from now. Thank you Last edited by jonathanp; 01-19-2009 at 11:32 AM. |
